How to Know Your Prakriti

The ancient practices of Ayuveda suggest that your emotional and psychological health can deeply affect your life. At the point of birth, every individual is provided with a unique, emotional, mental, and physical make-up. This is known as Prakriti. Whenever you look at the
mirror, you’ll see your physical self, irrespective of age, illness, and other factors. But you can’t see your natural self or Prakriti in the mirror.

Your body can change due to sickness, diseases, psychological or physical crises, causing disturbance in your Prakriti. Other external
factors such as environmental health hazards, unhealthy lifestyle, virus, malnutrition, old age, and imbalance work-life can change the body. All these can influence your own nature. Naturally, your mind and body will try to counterbalance any imbalance, but a failure to do so will result into illness or health condition quite different from Prakriti.

How does knowledge of Prakriti help you?

According to Ayurveda, knowing your Prakriti will help understand the conditions that govern your good health, happiness, and satisfied life. In addition, it’ll enable you to know the things that can cause imbalance to your natural self. If you don’t know your natural self, you won’t be able to maintain balance to prevent illness. You won’t know how to change any imbalance and become healthy and whole again.

What are the Connecting Layers of Prakriti?

With thousands of years of existence, Ayurveda not only studied the human physical make-up, but also its mental make=up. Thus, Prakriti can be divided into three categories, they are Deha Prakriti, Janma Prakriti, and Manas Prakriti.

Deha Prakriti is known as the psychological and physiological characteristics. We know that our Prakriti doesn’t change throughout a person’s lifetime, but the Doshas can change. The changes may occur not only as a result of illness or environmental conditions, but also due to age. Janma Prakriti is define as the genetic make-up of an individual. It is passed down from their parents. Manas Prakriti refers to the mental qualities of a person, and their spiritual development from birth. It is further classified in terms of Gunas.

The Mental Qualities of Manas Prakriti

The basic Manas Prakriti remain unchanged throughout your whole life. It is made up of 3 key mental qualities or Gunas called Sattva, Rajas as well as Tamas. This provides the basis for distinctions in the body’s psychological make-up. The Gunas play a very essential role in Ayurvedic treatment.

The aim is to improve the level of Sattva. A person with a Sattva make-up is sensitive, understanding, and empathetic. He or She is always looking for balance and harmony.

In contrast, people with Rajas make-up are turbulent, making them aggressive and energetic, as well as restless, and agitated. Those with Tamas make-up have a primarily lack of confidence, and also they disturb principles of harmony.
